New innovations of the technology group HARTING, plant 5 and "Botta-building" (rightside)
The new millennium is characterized by HARTING’s orientation as a Technology Group.
HARTING adopts an organization structure that is capable of developing solutions rapidly and flexibly.
Since 2001, six Global Business Units and more than 20 Local Subsidiaries have been committed to these aims and objectives.
Notable examples of products delivering increased customer benefits are the industrial Ethernet solutions, comprising RJ 45 based connectors, as well as complete cabling systems and active equipment and devices such as switches.
The company’s product portfolio now includes intelligent connectors and systems for flexible power distribution in the manufacturing area, in addition to opto-electrical connectors enabling top data transmission rates.
The extension of competencies results in the company’s involvement in micro-technologies, through to micro-packaging; in other words, the integration of microchips into products.
The spring of 2001 marks the inauguration of the impressive building in Minden designed by the Swiss star architect Mario Botta, which is home to the German sales company. At the beginning of 2002, Europe’s most modern vending machine plant was commissioned in Espelkamp-Isenstedt.
In the same year Romania is selected as a new production location. The following years, 2003 and 2004, hold new challenges for Dietmar Harting, who is elected president of DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V., German Institute for Standardization) and life-time honorary president of the electrical industry association ZVEI. Mr. Harting participates in the innovation summit, which subsequently results in the foundation of the “Partners for Innovation“ initiative, generating decisive impulses for economic growth in Germany. In October 2004 the Swiss location Biel is substantially expanded by the addition of HARTING Mitronics.
Since 2005 HARTING is also represented in India. The third generation, Philip F. W. Harting, begins his work as Managing Director Asia Pacific.
A new data processing service centre and training classrooms are being set up in the “Werk 4 B”.
At the opening ceremony of the Hanover Fair 2006 HARTING was awarded the “Hermes Award” – the international technology price of the Hanover Fair. The price was given to the passive UHF RFID Transponder HARfid LT 86 (HT). This transponder has a reading range of up to five meters. It also works on metallic or liquid objects and its field of application is the RFID in transportation and product logistics.
The VDE acknowledges Dietmar Harting’s dedication in this same year with its honorary membership.
In the year 2006 three students start their “Duales Studium im Mühlenkreis” (dual studies in the Mühlenkreis) at HARTING. They complete, besides the practice oriented study of engineering, a concurrent vocational education in mechanics.
In april 2007 Maresa W. M. Harting begins her work as executive manager in finance, controlling and taxes at HARTING in the town of Espelkamp. With Ms. Harting, the daughter of the entrepreneur-couple Margrit and Dietmar Harting, the next offspring eventually enters the technology company HARTING.
In may 2007 the new HARTING plant in the Rumanian town of Sibiu (Hermannstadt) is inaugurated. In Rumania HARTING supports associated companies, which operate in the production of industrial connectors and cable harnessing for the sections of medicine, telecommunication and industry. Furthermore, the plant in Sibiu manufactures connection technology and solenoid systems for the automotive branch and also it produces moulded pulps for tools.
