VW ID.4 GTX sets the next e-mobility record
Professional driver Rainer Zietlow achieves a Guinness World Record for 5,816 metres of altitude gain
"Higher, faster, further" instead of "Being there is everything"! When professional driver Rainer Zietlow drives in an electric car, he wants to break records. This iron will inspired him in 2021 to first accept the "further" as a challenge: After more than 57,000 kilometres and almost 100 days in a VW ID.4 through the USA, he had set the long-distance record. Never before has a driver travelled longer and further in an e-car within a single country. In May 2022, he made another attempt. This time, the vertical challenge captivated him and he set out in southern Bolivia to climb the world's highest, driveable mine road at the Uturuncu volcano with an ID.4 GTX: an adventure in thin air on sandy and rocky tracks.
Rainer Zietlow made it! He dropped 5,816 meters in altitude and thus secured another Guinness World Record.
"With this challenge, we want to prove to the world that electric mobility is capable of top performance even over 5,000 metres above sea level," Zietlow commented after his victory.
