Miniaturisation down to the last millimetre
HARTING's har-flex® PCB connector is used by Festo to implement their VTUG valve terminal so that it features higher flow rates in a compact design.
Valve terminals are indispensable for pneumatic automation systems. Modern devices may have Fieldbus functionality so that they can integrate various electrical functions. In addition to the flow rate, compact design is one of the key product features. The German company Festo is the inventor of the valve terminal and is now one of the world's leading suppliers of pneumatic and electrical automation technology. Festo is now designing an even more powerful, yet compact variant of their VTUG valve terminal based on HARTING's har-flex® PCB connectors.
Festo is now designing an even more powerful, yet compact variant of their VTUG valve terminal based on HARTING's har-flex® PCB connectors. With their miniaturised pitch of 1.27 mm and compact design, these connectors make the required space-saving device design possible. The decisive factor for its usage in Festo's VTUG valve terminal is that HARTING's 30-pole version offers precisely the right number of poles. This applies to all HARTING customers since the connectors is available in any pole count from 6 to 100.
Despite miniaturisation, these connectors are very robust. In addition to the reinforced walls of the insulation body, the extra side-mounted SMT "hold-downs" ensure that there is a continually secure connection to the PCB. This makes the connectors ideal for use in industrial electronics.
