The Robotation Academy is a 100% subsidiary of the Robotation Academy in Hanover, which is in turn part of Deutsche Messe AG. The Robotation Academy will be the official centre for robotics, automation and Industry 4.0 in South China. In terms of content, the institution will be run entirely from Germany.

In the first two years, the Chinese government will be inviting all manufacturing companies in South China to attend conferences, training sessions and networking events at the Robotation Academy. The largest Chinese training programme for automation, robotics and Industry 4.0 is also set to take place in Foshan in those first two years. The aim is for the Chinese government to host approximately 200 conferences and 200 training events in cooperation with the Robotation Academy.

All events will be executed jointly with the partners of the Robotation Academy: the Fraunhofer IFF and RWTH Aachen. The Chinese government is financing two complete Industry 4.0 systems with European technology as demo systems. The provincial government of Guangdong has set up a subsidy programme for industry that offers a high level of support for conversion to automated production. This programme includes a requirement for each company that receives an investment subsidy to participate in an event at the Robotation Academy.
