HARTING's Ha-VIS® preLink

Data network technology and Ethernet are becoming important innovation factors in industry. The cabling forms the backbone for the use of these technologies and must therefore be powerful, highly available and reliable. 

The HARTING Ha-VIS preLink® is an entirely new device connectivity that fulfills all of these requirements, while simultaneously combining the demands of profile-specific cabling for the automation market according to ISO/IEC 61918, with the advantages of generic cabling in accordance with ISO/IEC 24702 and EN50173-3.
Cable installation at the site is a simple process. The shortest installation times with reliable and consequently error-free processing are guaranteed.
The use of pre-assembled cabling links is also an option.

The preLink® cabling system has been designed with the future in mind, from performance level 100 Mbps Category 5 / Class D to 10 Gbps Category 6A / class EA and is applicable for all Ethernet-based applications.

preLink® - the new installation concept

preLink® technology separates cable connection and mating face. Here, the cable is provided with a cable termination block and pressed in with the preLink® pliers in one assembly step. This procedure is simple, time-saving and absolutely reliable, since the system of preLink® terminal block and assembly pliers are precisely matched to one another.

preLink® assembly pliers

The preLink® assembly pliers have been developed specially for the processing of preLink® termination blocks. preLink® assembly pliers handles the preLink® termination block for solid and stranded conductors of AWG 22/23 (transparent yellow) in the same manner as the termination blocks for smaller conduction cross-sectional areas of AWG 26/27 (transparent white). The termination blocks differ only in having different IDC contact jaws, to ensure the long-term durability of the contacts with the conductors. This allows all the common data cables on the market with four or eight conductors to be processed in the same quality. The preLink® assembly pliers are the guarantee for cable assembly with constant high quality and process reliability.

preLink® - terminal blocks

The preLink® terminal blocks, together with the preLink® assembly pliers, form the centerpiece of preLink® technology. They allow the unrestricted processing of the cable to be installed, independent of the form and type of the mating face used. This also applies to the IP65/67 protected connector. The mounting of the termination block with the preLink® assembly pliers takes place directly on the cable. This means that the fitter always has enough space to work and sees exactly which work step is being performed. The preLink® termination block contour precisely matches the insertion space in the preLink® connector and is a snug press fit there. All preLink® connectors are then closed using housing parts (latching tab for RJ45 and Extender or screwable round housing for M12), which hold the preLink® termination block absolutely vibration-proof in its final position and protect it from external influences. This guarantees the long term stability and reliable transfer quality of the preLink® connector.

preLink® - normative specifications

All preLink® components, both in terms of mating face as well as the HF transfer quality, are designed and tested strictly in accordance with the normative specification of ISO/IEC and EN standardization. preLink® RJ45 components thus fulfill the plug-compatibility and performance in accordance with Cat.6A (500 MHz for 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission) in accordance with ISO/IEC 60603-7-51 and the preLink® M12 components X-coded plug compatibility and performance in accordance with Cat.6A (500 MHz for 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission) in accordance with ISO/IEC 61076-2-109 or preLink® M12 D-code in accordance with Cat.5 (100MHz for Fast Ethernet transmission) in accordance with ISO/IEC 61076-2-101. The preLink® components in PushPull V14 housings (AIDA) conform with IEC 61076-3-117.

All preLink® connector types – whether plugs or sockets, IP20/30 or IP65/67 - provide, in combination with the matching part – “mated connection”. The preLink® termination block is part of the connector and not an additional connection in standards terms.

The 100% standard conformity of preLink® connection technology also guarantees the application in industrial cabling in accordance with IEC 61918 and its profiles in accordance with IEC 61784-5-x as well, in particular, as PROFINET Guideline IEC 61784-5-3.
