Demolition of older buildings of the HARTING Technology Group in Espelkamp
At the beginning of June 2025, HARTING will begin dismantling several older buildings on the site of Plant 1 on Marienwerderstraße in Espelkamp. This step is part of the technology group's long-term location strategy in Germany.
The reason for the demolition is due to several factors: the buildings in question require high maintenance and energy costs due to their old structure. At the same time, the need for space has been significantly reduced in recent years due to the increased use of mobile working. The resulting surplus space leads to ongoing operating costs, even though the buildings are hardly used or no longer used at all.
By demolishing the buildings, HARTING is creating new space and development opportunities for future requirements at the German site. The measure is an investment in the future - economically and ecologically sustainable. It is in line with the plans announced in February 2025 to expand Plant 2 in Espelkamp into the "Factory of the Future". This will involve investments of more than 75 million euros over the next five years. "Espelkamp remains a central part of our global production and innovation landscape," says Philip Harting, CEO of the HARTING Technology Group. "With targeted investments - such as the expansion of Plant 2 into the 'Factory of the Future' - we are ensuring that the location in Germany is strengthened in the long term."
During the dismantling process, there may be temporary disruptions due to noise and dust. HARTING is doing everything it can to minimise the inconvenience for employees and local residents.
