Double gold in Mallorca: HARTING company athletes take first place at the European Company Sports Games
Sun, sand, and the shine of precious metal: At this year's European Company Sports Games in Mallorca, the HARTING company sports teams in table tennis and football cleaned up – the "senior classes" each took home the gold medal! All teams demonstrated not only team spirit, but also ball skills and nerves of steel.
HARTING was represented on the Iberian holiday island with an impressive sports contingent: a total of 51 athletes competed in disciplines such as beach volleyball, padel, boules, steel darts, tennis, long-distance running, football, table tennis and golf. This sporting diversity sparked a healthy dose of team spirit under the Spanish sun.
Viktoria Thiessen from HARTING Health Management emphasises: "By participating in different sports, we show that we see company sports as a joint offering from employees for employees – regardless of athletic performance. The focus is clearly on togetherness. In this way, we create a sporting experience that involves everyone and contributes to long-term health and cohesion within the company."
First ECSG gold for HARTING after heated matches in Mallorca: With passion, experience and strong support, the "oldies" footballers win the precious metal. Top row, from left to right: Andreas Varenkamp, Sven Kassen, Daniel Vogt, Sergej Lauer and Joachim Finke. Bottom row, from left to right: Marcel Löwen, Jan Hiller, Jens "Oellermann" Grube, Vitali Reimer and Henning Gertz.
In the "Football Senior Class", the HARTING footballers impressively proved that they are far from being past their prime – and kicked their way to the top of the podium with passion and experience. After hard-fought matches on artificial turf in temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius in the midday sun, they prevailed 3-1 against KSV Wiener Netzwerke, cheered on by their colleagues, who provided great support from the sidelines.
Second ECSG gold for HARTING: André Grafe (left) and Matthias Domberg (right) triumph in the "Senior Class" table tennis doubles.
With fast smashes and clever moves, the HARTING "Senior Class" table tennis aces also secured first place: André Grafe and Matthias Domberg prevailed in the final against a French duo. The team had already won the silver medal two years ago at the last European Company Sports Games in Bordeaux. Now they were able to build on their success and even crown it with gold.
"We are particularly proud that we competed exclusively with employees from the HARTING Technology Group. It is quite common for open company sports clubs to include external participants. For us, the focus is on team spirit and identification with our own company – a real community experience that brings us together," says Viktoria Thiessen happily. "Mallorca has created golden memories for us! We are already looking forward to the next games in Athens in two years!"
