HARTING retirees explore paths to a green future
The HARTING Technology Group offers its former employees a varied programme every year. Spread over 12 months, the programme includes activities, social get-togethers and insights into the world of HARTING. Once again this year, the programme kicked off with a day trip to discover the world of sustainable energy and industrial culture.
The retirees' first destination was the biogas plant "Green Energy GmbH & Co. KG" biogas plant in Uchte. The senior boss of the technology group, Dietmar Harting, is the owner of the plant, which has been supplying HARTING with climate-friendly energy for more than ten years. As well as gaining an insight into modern energy supply, the Emeritus also learnt about sustainability at HARTING in Germany. For example, the technology group saves 5,340 tonnes of CO2 per year by using biomethane. Today, more than 99% of the energy used by HARTING in Germany is renewable or climate-neutral.
After a stop for lunch at Hof Frien, the journey continued to the Glashütte Gernheim in Petershagen. There, the participants learnt about the fascinating art of glassblowing and the history of this traditional manufactory.
The day ended in a cosy atmosphere in the Weser barn, where the retirees enjoyed coffee and cake and chatted to each other. "Such excursions are not only a wonderful opportunity to experience the cultural diversity of our region, but also to meet old friends and make new connections," said Barbara Jung, former employee of the Technology Group, at the end of the excursion.
Contact with retirees is extremely important to HARTING. "The connection to our former employees is very important to us. With these excursions, we create space for encounters and exchanges about shared memories and experiences that go beyond working hours," explained Maresa Harting-Hertz, Deputy Chairwoman of the Technology Group's Executive Board. Further outings are also planned for the future to maintain the community among the emeritus employees and their ties to the HARTING Technology Group.
