DRK blood donation bus stops at HARTING
The blood donation bus visited the technology group for two days this year. The result: 105 employees donated a total of 52.5 litres of blood.
This time, the campaign coincided with World Cancer Day. Blood is urgently needed to treat those affected. ‘20% of all blood donations benefit people with cancer. We are delighted that many HARTING employees also supported us on Tuesday, 4 February (World Cancer Day) and Wednesday, 5 February. Their reliability is exemplary! Please come again next year,’ appeals Dr Peter Cyris from the DRK Blood Donor Service West and speaks of a very pleasing result.
Last year, the German Red Cross Blood Donor Service recorded a 6% drop in the number of first-time donors compared to the previous year. The technology group is therefore all the more pleased that its participants included 22 volunteers who donated their blood for the first time for people in need. The blood, which is urgently needed for cancer treatment, is also required for operations, for the production of medicines and for the treatment of immune disorders, among other things.
Simone Klaus, responsible for occupational safety at HARTING, organised the blood donation campaign again this year. ‘Every millilitre counts! Therefore: THANK YOU to all participants and especially to our regular donors. However, in order to counteract the declining number of blood donations and secure the supply in the long term, we need young people in particular to regularly make the small sacrifice. To our delight, we have also been able to welcome a few faces here regularly in recent years. Keep up the good work!’
Being dependent on canned blood can affect anyone - which is why Meike Bulmahn, HR Project Digitalisation Manager at HARTING, regularly donates to a good cause.
