HARTING T1 Industrial SPE Interface receives German Innovation Award 2020

The HARTING T1 Industrial interface for Single Pair Ethernet was awarded the German Innovation Award 2020. This is the second year in succession that HARTING has won the coveted award. After the German Innovation Award 2019 went to the HARTING ix Industrial interface for miniaturized Ethernet solutions, the winner in 2020 is: HARTING T1 Industrial.

For the team, around the introduction of the Single Pair Ethernet interface as standard mating face according to IEC 63171-6 standard, this is of course a great honour and confirmation of their work. The award is an important confirmation for HARTING and, of course, also for customers that this groundbreaking product supports the needs of developments for IIoT at the right time.

When introducing the new solution for Ethernet via only one pair of wires, the focus was clearly on not only developing a product, but ultimately to successfully introduce the whole thing into international standardization and establish it on the market.

As the first industrial company on the market, the company recognized the opportunities offered by SPE and developed an optimal infrastructure solution for all users who want to rely on I4.0 and IIoT. At the same time, standardization has long been one of our core issues. In order to set a uniform standard for the industry with SPE, we have been active in the development of standards and have standardized the interface in IEC 63171-6 and had this standard referenced in the international cabling standards ISO/IEC and TIA Tr42.
Innovation has been the core business of the company for 75 years, the German Innovation Award underlines this once again.
