HARTING's har-flexicon® connector is the miniature SMD connector for quickly connecting single conductors. For industrial devices, it guarantees the perfect connection between peripherals and the circuit board.

On the path set by our har-flex®, HARTING is continuing to rethink and optimise device connectivity.

1. Insulation displacement connection

A PCB connector with IDC termination and a pitch of 1.27 mm is the smallest field-installable connector on the market.

2. Push-in spring cage connection

Fast and easy connection of rigid and flexible single conductors with or without wire ferrules without special tools.

3. Additional SMT hold-downs

The additional SMT hold-downs ensure that the connector is securely connected to the circuit board. This protects the signal contacts against mechanical stress, which helps to improve the reliability of the entire system.

4. Active lock-in mechanism

An active lock-in attachment of the connector with the base strip delivers a reliable connection that is resistant to shock and vibration.

5. Automatic assembly possible

The har-flexicon® PCB connectors are designed for automated Pick & Place assembly processes; they can be processed in a reflow soldering process with other SMD components. Both of these processes simplify PCB assembly and result in lower overall process costs.

NEW white termination technology for LED applications

When connecting light-emitting diodes (LEDs), white PCB terminals and connectors in 2.54mm pitch can reduce the lighting's shadow effect. The SMT reflow-enabled components are ideal for use on metal-core PCBs; these are preferred for the better heat dissipation they provide for high-power LEDs.

With the har-flex® connectors, HARTING has designed a series of PCB connectors for all-purpose use in and on the device.

A special feature of the har-flex® mezzanine connectors is their continuous scalability, with all pin counts available from 6 to 100. This makes custom solutions possible for all customer requirements.

The har-flex® connectors are available in any number of pins from 6 to 100. The use of precisely fitted types provides the maximum versatility during device design while also helping to support device miniaturisation.

2. Customised IDC cable assemblies

har-flex® IDC cable assemblies are available:

  • in any pin count from 6 to 100

  • in customised lengths

  • with or without strain relief

  • with identical or variably aligned mating faces

3. Additional SMT hold-downs

The additional SMT hold-downs ensure that the connector is securely connected to the circuit board. The signal contacts are thus protected against mechanical stress, which contributes to increased reliability of the overall system.

4. Locking levers and strain relief

The locking levers on the sides of the IDC cable connectors ensure a reliable electrical connection, even under high shock and vibration loads. Optional strain relief clamps protect the insulation displacement contacts against pulling forces on the cable.

NEW variants with the THR termination technique

The new har-flex® THR variants are intended for applications with demanding mechanical conditions. THR stands for Through Hole Reflow: this termination technique uses side-mounted hold-downs. The connectors combine the mechanically stable solder joints of through-hole technology with the automatic assembly benefits of SMD components. The signal contacts are also designed with the SMT termination technique, so that separating the conducting paths within the circuit board remains as simple as possible.
